Safedata Frequently Asked Questions

What is Online Backup?

  • Offsite backup is the safest most secure way off ensuring that you can always retrieve your company's vital data. Should your business be affected by one of the many hazards that could possibly destroy your data (such as computer theft, vandalism, fire, flood or simple hardware failure), you can gain peace of mind from the knowledge that your crucial information can be rapidly retreived and restored, with little effort and minimum downtime.

How does it work?

  • A simple example: You have a PC which stores all of your company's important files. You also have the SafeData application installed on the same machine and it is set to create a backup at the end of each day. One morning you discover that your office has been completely flooded, causing much of your stationery, paperwork furniture and equipment to be damaged beyond repair. Although your insurance covers the costs of computer equipment it cannot replace the information stored on it. Anxious to get back up and running you use another undamaged PC to connect to the SafeData (safedata.proweb.net), enter your unique username and password, select the files you want to restore (in this case All) and click "Restore". Your files are then sent from our secure backup server directly to your PC.
Once the backed up files are downloaded you are back on your feet.

How safe is my data?

  • When transferring any kind of data across the internet security is of paramount importance, and we take it seriously too. Your files are fully encrypted whilst in transit over the internet and in storage on our secure bank of highly specified data storage units. In short, your data cannot be intercepted, diverted or read by anyone until their identity has been fully verified.

Who can access my files?

  • All SafeData account holders are issued with a unique username and password. This username and password is used by the SafeData system to verify who has permission to access your files. So, if you are the only person who knows your username and password ONLY YOU CAN ACCESS YOUR FILES.

How much storage do I get?

  • There is no upper storage limit so you can have as much storage as you want. SafeData storage allocation is currently priced per 10Gb block of data according to your total storage allocation.

How do I restore lost data?

  • You can restore lost data by using the SafeData application or by logging onto the website (safedata.proweb.net), selecting the files you want to restore and clicking "RESTORE". The rest is automatic.

How much does it cost?

  • SafeData is priced in 10Gb blocks. Prices are dependent on the amount of storage allocated to your account. The vast majority of current SafeData users require less than 10Gb storage allocation.

    • £19.99 per 10Gb for up to 249Gb storage allocation
    • Lower costs per 10Gb are available for customers who require larger storage allocations.
      Call us on 0115 920 20 10 for prices

If your storage requirements change you can increase or decrease your allocation to suit *minimum term applies.

What do I need?

  • SafeData can operate under a variety of platforms, PC's and server configurations. All you really need to get started is a PC and internet connection.
